Onto The Next One

Harrison Barnes isn't the only big name making waves this weekend. A star studded mid-signing-week crew is packing their bags for weekend trips.

Don't expect any big name high school players to make their decisions on Friday as the stage has been cleared for No. 1 Harrison Barnes to settle in and make his selection.

It will, however, be interesting to see what if any ripple effects Barnes' decision creates. For instance, the player most likely to be affected is small forward Roscoe Smith. If Duke doesn't score with Barnes will it turn its attention to Smith?

"Now, Connecticut has a slight edge over Georgetown," a source close to Smith told Scout.com.

Kansas is in the mix for a number of wings players and could have a busy spring on its hands. The Jayhawks are on Josh Selby, Doron Lamb and Brandon Knight, in addition to being a finalist for Barnes.

Selby is making an official visit to Indiana this weekend and pledged to keep the recruiting junkies at bay until the spring. Knight makes the trip to Florida and there's been chatter that he could end his recruitment this fall.

Knight told the Miami Herald that when he makes a decision, he won't hold back.

``When I find out which place I'm going to go to, I'm not going to waste anybody's time or hold anybody back," Knight told the paper. "I am just going to go ahead and announce it."

Knight's list reads UK, KU, Syracuse, Miami, Florida and UConn.

KU is also in the mix for Doron Lamb. "Kentucky and Kansas are the two leaders for Lamb," another source shared with us this week. Lamb is set to visit UConn later this weekend. His decision could come in the fall. Arizona is trying to extend the process and get him on campus but the Wildcats are 5th behind UK, KU, UConn and Oklahoma.

Then there's Tobias Harris. He's set to see Maryland and Georgia Tec. Louisville, Kentucky, West Virginia, Syracuse and Tennessee are chasing him. The end game is near as Harris will announce Nov. 19.

Quiet weekend in college hoops, right? Wrong. Once Barnes steps up to the podium and makes his decision, it's onto the next one.
