O'Neil Likes Four

Dwight O'Neil, a talented guard from the class of 2004, says he's still wide open, but four schools have emerged from the pack so far...

Dwight O'Neil, 6-1 JR PG Fresno (Calif.) Washington Union, is strong and athletic, with the ability to score from the perimeter or off penetration.

While we're currently listing him as a point guard, it's probably more likely that he ends up at the two guard spot. He's got a decent handle and, at his size, you'd like to see him develop into a point. But whether that ever happens remains to be seen.

We spoke with Dwight recently and asked him about the schools that are currently on his list. "USC, UNLV, Fresno St. and New Mexico," said O'Neil. "Those are the four I'm most interested in, but I'm open to hearing from anyone."

O'Neil told us that he prefers to play in an up-tempo system. He also said that he wants to play early. "Some place where I can get some run as a freshman," said O'Neil.

We asked about the timing of his choice and O'Neil said, "I think by the end of the summer I'll know which schools are serious. I might sign early, but I could wait."

O'Neil told us that he's averaging "around 28 points" a game this season. Washington Union has a record of 18-3.
