Gary Williams has a new member of recruiting class and its power forward Ashton Pankey.
Terrapins have a new power forward and he's of the St. Anthony variety.
Ashton Pankey, a 6-foot-8 standout who plays under the tutelage of legendary Bob Hurley, committed Monday afternoon before practice.
"He announced it already," New Heights assistant Jeff Rivera told Scout.com. "He's going to Maryland. They had a need for his position and wanted to play at a high level. He wanted a good academic school. It fits all three schools."
Houston, Rice, Drexel and Hofstra had been in pursuit. Pankey's pledges gives Maryland four signees. Mychal Parker, Terrell Stoglin and Terrence Ross comprise the Terps Top 25 recruiting effort.
