Ellis Opens Up Recruitment
David Ellis, 6-10 JR PF Sacramento (Calif.) Capital Christian, made an early commitment to Cal, but things didn't work out with the Bears and Ellis is once again available to be recruited. We spoke with Ellis the other day and he told us that he's hearing from a number of schools. "Gonzaga, Oregon, Washigton, Washington State, Texas Tech, Ohio State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Miami and New Mexico -- those are some of the schools," said Ellis. We asked if any schools had an edge yet and Ellis replied, "Gonzaga, Oregon and New Mexico are pretty strong right now, but I'm wide open. Gonzaga and New Mexico have asked me to visit in the spring." When questioned about what he's looking for in a school, Ellis said, "the atmosphere at the school, how I get along with the players and staff, and strong academics." Ellis isn't necessarily concerned with early time. "It'd be nice to play early, but if they want me to redshirt to gain strength, that'd be ok." He also isn't worried about staying close to home. "It would be nice if I could stay close to home, buk I'll go wherever the right fit is," said Ellis. Ellis said he has a 3.0 GPA and scored 860 on the SAT. He said he'll probably hold off on a decision until next November.
