Stargell Love, a senior at Winston Salem (N.C.) Quality Education, committed to the Baylor Bears Friday afternoon. Baylor, Marquette, Mississippi State and UNC-Greensboro had offered the Lumberton native a scholarship.
Known for his athleticism, Love is a two-year starter at Quality Education and was one of the top point guards left on the board from the early signing period.
"I like Baylor because it's a small private school and their style of play fits me perfectly," Love said. "I grew up in a small town and Waco's small but it's by the big cities. I just felt like it was time."
Love is averaging 19.5 points and 8 assists on the year.
He'll visit the school officially in January. One thing remained consistent with Baylor from Love's perspective and that always hit home with him.
"When I talked to Baylor they always said I was their No. 1 guy. They gave me all the love that I wanted and needed to know that it was the school for me."
