The 6-foot-10, 210-pound big man built strong relationships with the coaching staff at Iowa State, and that led to his verbal commitment early Tuesday morning.
"It was a relationship that i built with coach T.J. [Otzelberger] and coach mcdermott," Railey told Scout.com. " Plus with coach McDermott being a big man I think that he could really hlep my game and I felt like it was a good place for me."
Railey, of Beaverton (Ore.) High, had scholarship offers from Drake, Portland State and Pacific. Saint Mary's and Washington St were also inquiring about the talented big man.
"It was a gut feeling," he said of his commitment. "I felt like i had a good connection with the coaches and I felt like thats where i should go."
Railey, who is currently averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks a game, will take his official visit to Ames (Iowa) during the weekend of January 30th.
The Cyclones now have a pair of commitments. Railey joins Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy standout Melvin Ejim to make up their two-man recruiting class.
