Grace-Fully To The Big East

Davontay Grace has a big family and they're going to be able to watch him perform in college. Over the weekend, the junior Brooklyn Jefferson guard made his decision.

St. John's is on the board in 2011 and it's a local standout.

Davontay Grace, a 6-foot-2 point man out of Brooklyn Jefferson committed to Nom Roberts after receiving interest from Hofstra, Providence, West Virginia and Marquette.

"He felt that watching St. John's and being in New York he wanted to start the New Year off right," Jefferson coach Bud Pollard told Scout.com. "He wants to focus on him and getting ready for college. He felt that on the first day of the period, several schools contacted him. St. John's has been persistent in their recruitment of him."

St. John's commitment to Grace was noticeable. Recently, the head coach scheduled his day around watching, evaluating and making sure Grace knew he was a priority.

"It was a Sunday and he said I'm going to church and I'm going to see Davontay. That's the kind of person he wants to put his future in his hands. Plus, growing up as a kid in New York City his dream was to play in the Big East, in the Garden and have the hometown behind him."
