Juco Freshman Decides

Aking Elting took care of his recruiting early. Elting, a native of North Carolina, made the rare junior college commitment this week.

Blue Demons Add 2004 Point Man

DePaul got an early start on the Class of 2004, especially considering the Blue Demons most recent commitment came from a junior college freshman.

Aking Elting, a 5-10 point guard, committed to Dave Leitao's bunch this week. Elting is a native of Elizabethtown, N.C. He made the switch to Southern Idaho where he joined his brother Sakrid Dent, a sophomore at CSI.

As a junior, he and his brother teamed to win a state championship in North Carolina. He was a 3-time all-conference player at Elizabethtown. The freshman is averaging 16 minutes a game at CSI this year and he's used his time wisely. He's averaging 5 points and 3.8 assists in that time. A few juco observers feel like he'll be among the top players at his position next year.

The commitment is DePaul's first among members of the Class of 2004.
