Franklin Has Four Offers

Senior combo guard LaBradford Franklin is waiting until the spring to make his decision and he tells us about the schools that have offered to date...

LaBradford Franklin, 6-2 SR PG/SG Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak, is one of the better unsigned prospects in the West Coast class of 2010. A versatile guard who can do a bit of everything, Franklin has a chance to play both backcourt spots at the next level.

I spoke with Franklin recently and asked about the schools that are recruiting him.

"Gonzaga, Washington State, San Diego State, Long Beach State and a little bit from UCLA," said Franklin.

Franklin said each of the schools except UCLA has offered a scholarship.

I asked Franklin if any school stands out for him.

"Since I'm waiting until the spring, they're all pretty much equal," said Franklin. "I'm waiting so I can be 100% with my decision."

Franklin talked a little about the issues he'll consider when choosing a school.

"Being a West Coast kid, I do kind of want to stay in the west so I can be close to my family, " said Franklin. "Of course, academics are important. Also, the conference the school is in. I would like to play at a high level, both in terms of the competition and the exposure."

Franklin said he's not sure when he'll make his decision.

"I'm not sure on the time period," said Franklin. "I'll do it when I feel most comfortable with my decision. It's a big decision for my family and me, so I'll do it when I feel ready and my family agrees."

Franklin has taken official and unofficial visits to San Diego State.

"Because it's so close and convenient, it was easy for me and my family to go down there," said Franklin. "I'm planning on visiting Washington State and Gonzaga in February sometime."
