Rich Having Excellent Season

Dr. Phillips junior swingman Jason Rich has his team sitting at 22-6 and ranked third in the state. Here's an update on what's going on with his recruitment.

Rich Receiving Plenty of Interest

When you have your team sitting at 22-6 and you're averaging 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, life is good. If you're Jason Rich and college coaches are coming in droves to watch you, life is great.

"There's been quite a few [college coaches] who've come by," Rich said. "It would be hard to name all of them but I guess there's been quite a few."

Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Miami, Georgia Tech, Connecticut, Texas and Oklahoma have shown interest. So far, he's only taken a single unofficial visit. "Other than going to see the Gators play, that's about it. I've been too busy with the season."

As of right now, Rich feels like only the Gators have offered. "I'm pretty close to Gainesville so I've seen their face a little more. That's important but right now I see every college as the same. I want to pick one that will make me better and prepare me for the next level."

Rich was pretty good when we saw him last summer. He says that he's added another element to his game. "I've become more of a 3-point threat. They have to respect the fact that I can make that shot now. Now you have to guard me both ways."
