2004 Update: Cliff Hammonds

Cairo (GA) High guard Cliff Hammonds recently helped his team capture the region title. He's starting to hear from a plethora of high-major programs.

Schools Calling On Hammonds

Cliff Hammonds, a left-handed guard from Cairo (GA) High is averaging 26 points and 10 rebounds this season. "I'm playing the 2 and 3," Hammonds said. "I play the point with my AAU team." And he does that well.

Hammonds turned in an outstanding effort at the 2002 Nike Hoop Jamboree where he showed his ability to handle the ball, make shots and run the show with good players around him. He plays AAU ball for the Atlanta Prep Stars.

Hammonds said Georgia Tech, Georgia, Clemson, Central Florida, South Alabama, Indiana, Stanford and Auburn are keeping tabs on him. Hammonds said that he hasn't planned any official visits but if he were to take trips after the season they would be to Georgia Tech or Georgia.

We think Hammonds will display a versatile scoring package once the AAU season hits its stride. "I like to penetrate a lot and get to the hole, maybe take the 15 foot jumper."
