2011's Chris Jones Commits

Memphis Melrose is a hot spot for recruiters these days. Jermaine Johnson's team is loaded and young. On Sunday, Scout.com learned Chris Jones' college destination.

The Tennessee Volunteers dipped into the Class of 2011 – again – and scored a serious commitment. Speedster Chris Jones, a 5-foot-10 scoring maven out of Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose, is a Volunteer.

"He committed but we haven't brought it out publicly," Melrose coach Jermaine Johnson told Scout.com Sunday night. "He's committed, that's where he wants to go. Bruce came to the FedEx Forum on Monday."

Jones, who is ranked No. 63 in the junior class, plays on a loaded team that also features junior Adonis Thomas. He's averaging 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri and UTEP were involved in his recruitment.

"Really, it was the style of play, he loves the in-your-face approach and the pressure defense he instills with his basketball philosophy. His dad lives in Atlanta so he can see him play in college."

The Volunteers now own a pair of commitments from the Class of 2011. Kevin Ware, a guard out of Atlanta, is also committed to UT.
