Loyd's Recruitment Picks Up

Jonathan Loyd, a quick senior point guard from Las Vegas, has some new programs involved in his recruitment...

Jon Loyd, 5-10 SR PG Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, has had a very strong senior season and his recruitment has picked up as a result.

I spoke with Loyd recently and he told me four schools are involved with him at this time.

"Northwestern, SMU, Santa Clara and UCLA are the main ones," said Loyd.

I asked Loyd which schools have offered a scholarship.

"Northwestern, SMU and Santa Clara have each offered," said Loyd.

Loyd said that no school stands out for him at the moment.

"I don't have a favorite," said Loyd. "I'm going to take my visits in the spring after my season is over and decide then."

Loyd talked a little about the issues he's considering in choosing a school.

"I want to go someplace that has a good business program," said Loyd. "The style of play is something I'll look at, the strength of their schedule, the coaches and how comfortable I am with them."

When asked if he has an idea when he'll make his choice, Loyd replied, "I don't have a real set timeframe. But if I had to guess, it'll probably be a few weeks after my season is over. So probably sometime in March."

Loyd said he has a 4.0 GPA for this year so far and a 3.3 overall.
