2011's Gant Claims Seven Offers

Justin Gant has gained a variety of college interest. He's focused on the season now, but following he plans to shorten his list.

Justin Gant, a standout at Terre Haute (Ind.) North, has quietly put together an impressive junior season.

"I'm playing pretty good," Gant said. "We've been doing pretty good. The thing that I'm struggling with the most is the three-point shot, but I really haven't taken that many this year. So that's what I'm working on the most right now."

"I like to go inside and out so I can play on the perimeter and then post up people that are smaller than me," he added. "That's how I like to play and I think I do a pretty good job at it."

The 6-foot-8, 205-pound power forward is averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Patriots, who are 16-6 on the year.

Throughout the season a college coaches have made appearances at his game and he's already scored offers from Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Evansville, Iowa, Miami-Ohio, Bradley and Rice.

"It's going pretty good," he said of his recruitment. "During the season it's slowed down with me being busy and the colleges being busy. It's been going good and I've been keeping touch with the schools."

"I also get letters from Illinois and I went to a couple of Notre Dame and Michigan games," Gant added. "Kansas State sent me a couple letters lately too."

Gant said he plans to discuss schools following the season and possibly come up with a top five.

"It's still kind of early," the 2011 prospect said of his recruitment. "During the season I'm not worrying about it as much as I will out of the season."

"Right now I'm just keeping my options open and giving everybody a chance," he said. "After the season gets down I'm going to get a top five schools and focus on them and start narrowing my options down."

Gant and Terre Haunte North will begin section play tomorrow against Plainfield.
