Kendall Williams Calls It

Kendall Williams ended his recruitment this week. The Los Osos guard carefully selected the New Mexico Lobos after visiting Clemson.

Kendall Williams, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard out of Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Los Osos High, is headed to play for the New Mexico Lobos.

Steve Alford's finest season in Albuquerque paid its first dividend on the recruiting trail last week. "I'm hoping that it just gets better," Williams said. "From what I've seen, I would expect it to. I don't know if it'll top the kind of year they're having now but they're doing some damage."

Williams visited Clemson officially last month and Marquette during the early period. Florida showed interest as well. The Lobos, Williams said, only looked more attractive after this year's success.

"Obviously, the season they're having right now played a big deal. I got a real good vibe from the coaches. I don't think it's a fluke, they're going to keep getting better."

Williams committed early to UCLA but the relationship faded and eventually the commitment dissipated. Going through the process a second time forced Williams to keep his radar up.

"I wouldn't say nervous but I'm more careful and I have more anticipation. With that situation, you're hesitant to marry another school. You want to make sure it's the right situation and I think it is."
