Jackson Taking His Time

Lonnie Jackson, a junior shooting guard from Southern California, says he'll likely wait a while to pick a school...

Lonnie Jackson, 6-2 JR SG Valencia (Calif.) High, is an excellent shooter with a solid feel for the game.

I spoke with Jackson recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been in touch with him.

"Arizona State, UCLA, USC, Washington, Washington State, Pepperdine, Stanford and Kansas have been in touch," said Jackson. "Arizona State has offered."

Jackson has taken unofficial visits to Arizona State and Pepperdine, while also attending a camp at Kansas.

"I plan on visiting Stanford in the spring," said Jackson. "And I'm hoping to go to Washington's camp as well."

I asked Jackson what he is looking for in a school.

"I want to be comfortable with the coaches and the style of play," said Jackson. "I'd like to play someplace where they run a bit, but also set picks and shoot jump shots. The location isn't really important. And early playing time isn't a real big factor. I'm willing to pay my dues and I will try to earn time my freshman year."

Jackson said he's in no rush to pick a school.

"I probably won't decide until prior to my senior season," said Jackson.

Jackson said he currently has a 3.5 GPA.
