The biggest jump he may have made came with his body. "I have better conditioning and athleticism my junior year than my sophomore year," Adams said. "I learned how to work harder. At first I didn't understand what hard work was all about. I got it into my mind to be in the best shape I can be to play in."
The 255-pounder noticed that come the final period, he had more gas in the tank this season. "By the time the 4th quarter hit, I used to be tired. Now once I got into shape I could dominate into the last quarter."
"Duke offered me a couple of weeks ago," Adams said. "I talked to both Coach K and Coach James. Coach K hasn't been down to see me yet but I sent a lot of film. Coach James saw me play at Reebok last summer. Basically, they liked all the films."
As much as Duke has liked Adams, he's reciprocated. "I'm pretty close to committing. We've been talking a lot for the last month and half. I'm really interested in them. I'm supposed to go down there in June. I was there with the Bob Gibbons but I haven't been there for a visit.
"At a program like Duke, many guys don't get the opportunity or a chance to play for Coach K. It's basically a no-brainer."
If Adams' recruitment continues at this pace, there is a strong chance he could pop in the near future. However, it's not a done deal.
"Mississippi State and Memphis are making it tough. Both of those schools have been recruiting me for a long time and they're close to home. I like both of them but I like Duke more."
