2011 Introduction: Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson, a 6-7 face-up four man from Long Beach (Calif.), gives us some early thoughts on his recruitment...

Ryan Anderson, 6-7 JR PF Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, has solid skills for a young post. Anderson is a good shooter out to about 16-18 feet and he's got nice hands. He's got a young face and it's possible he could get bigger.

I spoke with Anderson recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been in contact with him.

"USC, UCLA, Washington State, Auburn and Utah have been in touch," said Anderson.

When I noted that Auburn is the one school out of the west, Anderson said, "I have family in Alabama."

I asked Anderson if he has a favorite school at the moment.

"It's actually a school that I haven't heard from," said Anderson. "I really like West Virginia. I've watched them a lot, the Big East plays great basketball and Huggins is one of the great coaches."

Anderson talked a little about what he is looking for in a school.

"I'm looking for a system that fits me and, of course, my parents want good academics," said Anderson. "I'd like to play in more of an up tempo program that gets up and down. The West Coast is always good, but as long as I go to a school that makes some trips to the west that would be fine."

I asked Anderson if he has taken any unofficial visits yet.

"I went to USC in the fall," said Anderson. "UCLA wants me to come up there. Washington State and Utah have also talked about me taking a trip to their schools."

Anderson said he has given some thought to when he'd like to make his decision.

"I'd like to decide before my senior year," said Anderson. "Probably sometime in September so I have no worries about that before my senior season."

Anderson said he has a 3.4 GPA.
