ACC Calls Rankin

Marquis Rankin, one of the gems in the state of North Carolina in 2011, made his pick on Friday. Seth Greenberg likes coming into the state and he scored another promising young player.

The Virginia Tech Hokies added a four-star floor general on Friday. Seth Greenberg went into North Carolina and pulled out one of the top players in the junior class. Marquis Rankin committed to the Hokies after listening to pitches from Wake Forest and Clemson.

Greenberg's crew worked Rankin hard since his freshman season. Their diligence paid off as the No. 23 prospect pledged his allegiance. "It was how they handled the whole recruiting process," Lamar Rankin, Marquis' father told Scout.com. "When he had a down summer last year they stayed in the fight and never backed away. It'll be a great opportunity for him to come in and play as a freshman right away."

The Charlotte Vance is a speed demon. Rankin has an extra burst of quickness to the rim and he's been a winner on the high school level. The six-foot guard should come in and give the Hokies playing time as a freshman and leadership for four seasons.

"He went up there and met the president of the university. He knew exactly who he was and that made a great impression. Plus, Hokie Nation is off the chain."
