Harrell Holds Two Offers

Montrezl Harrell, a 2012 prospect out of Tarboro (N.C.) North Edgecombe, was among the top performers at the recent Carolina Challenge.

During the Carolina Challenge there were a number of quality performance throughout all day event showcasing the talent in North Carolina.

Among the top performances of camp came from sophomore standout Montrezl Harrell. The 6-foot-7 power forward put together a 19-point outing midway through the event where he was an efficient 7-for-8 from the field.

"I think I played good," Harrell told Scout.com after the event. "I shot the ball very well. I try to [efficient]. They gave me too much room thinking I couldn't shoot and I made them pay for it."

To go with his ability to step out and shoot, Harrell has a strong motor, is a willing rebounder and a guy that isn't afraid to mix it up in the post.

The 2012 prospect already holds a pair of scholarship offers – Virginia and South Carolina. He also said Wake Forest, Maryland, Xavier and Southern California are in the mix.

"South Carolina is trying to get me down there real bad," Harrell said when asked who was showing him the most attention.

So how did his recruitment begin?

"It started during the basketball season," Harrell said. "The very first game of the season I got a triple-double and then throughout he season I started averaging a triple-double."

Harrell averaged 9.3 points a game during the Carolina Challenge.
