Walker, Gophers Unite

Tubby Smith likes his big guys. On Wednesday, Smith secured a commitment from Mo Walker.

Tubby Smith added a big man to his recruiting class on Wednesday.

Mo Walker, a 6-foot-10 center, played a big role for national champ Brewster Academy. This week, he selected the Gophers after hearing from Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Indiana.

"He had a pretty solid year," Brewster coach Jason Smith said. "I don't think we win the New England or the national championship without him. His biggest contribution was he was one of the few big guys who would step in and take a charge at big moments."

Walker averaged 12 points and 10 boards for Smith and Brewster.

"He's got good hands, good footwork. He needs to continue to work on conditioning."
