Ryan Wright, an athletic three man from Southern California, had a very good showing in Denver this past weekend. He gives us some early thoughts on his recruitment...
, 6-5 SO SF Palmdale (Calif.) High, is a very promising young prospect. Wright has a strong body already, with a great frame, and above average athleticism. He's a fair shooter out to about 17 feet, but he's a very good finisher around the basket. He still has a ways to go in terms of his development, but he has a considerable upside.
I spoke with Wright in Denver and asked about the schools he has heard from to date.
"UCLA, USC, Penn State, Washington State, Miami and Santa Clara," said Wright. "Also, I haven't been hearing from them but I'm also interested in LSU and Arizona."
Wright said he doesn't have a leader at this time.
I asked Wright what he is looking for in a school.
"The education and someplace that can help me achieve my goal of playing in the NBA," said Wright. "Wherever I feel is the best place that will help me in achieving that goal."
Wright said he is in no hurry to pick a school.
"I want to wait until the last minute," said Wright. "I want to keep my options open."
When asked if he has had a chance to visit any school unofficially, Wright said, "I've been to UCLA and USC."
Wright said he currently has a 3.2 GPA.
