Whisnant Finds His School

Leonard Hamilton, a North Carolina native, is on fire with North Carolina prospects. Junior Terry Whisnant is headed to Tallahassee.

Terry Whisnant is going to play in the ACC and there's been another A.P.B. issued for Leonard Hamilton. The Florida State coach was issued his second citation for stealing a player out of North Carolina. Last year, Hamilton plucked Ian Miller from Charlotte and now he's the owner of a commitment from sniper Terry Whisnant.

Whisnant, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard out of Cherryville High School, committed to the Seminoles. Last week Appalachian State, South Carolina, VCU, Asheville and Charlotte watched him. Had he not pledged, Wake Forest and North Carolina were coming to see him this week.

"It was getting hot," Terry Whisnant Sr. told Scout.com. "He just more or less liked what the assistants said to him. He never got a chance to talk to Coach Hamilton until recently. He told Coach Harrill that was his guy and he wanted him. He just wanted to go to Florida State. Everything worked out, that's exactly where he wanted to go."

Whisnant is one of the state's top rising seniors and one of the best shooters we've seen this spring. As a junior, Whisnant connected on a staggering 51% of his 3-pointers and shot lights out at the recent Carolina Challenge.
