Big Man in New Mexico
Alan Branch, 6-7 JR C Albuquerque (New Mex.) Cibola, is a wide body with fairly nimble feet and a nice shooting touch out to about 15-17 feet. He's also a football prospect, playing both tight end and defensive end. We spoke with Branch yesterday and he told us that he's hearing from colleges for both sports. "ASU has offered in football," said Branch. "New Mexico has for basketball. I'm also hearing from Colorado and Texas A & M, along with some others." Branch said ASU has been out to a basketball practice and New Mexico has been to some of his games. We asked Branch if he had a preference in sports and he said, "Football is the priority. I'm not sure if I'll play both sports in college." When we asked him about the issues he'd consider when making his choice, Branch replied, "Education, first of all. Playing time is kind of important and there is a little appeal to stay close to home." Branch said that he'll wait until fall to make a decision. He told us that he struggled academically early in high school, but said he's doing better now.
