Peters Places Pledge

2012 power forward Zach Peters picked his college this week. Peters is going to play in the Big 12.

The Kansas Jayhawks are on the board in 2012. According to a source, the Jayhawks received a verbal commitment from Plano (Tex.) Prestonwood Christian power forward Zach Peters.

Kansas head coach Bill Self went down to Dallas this week and watched Peters. The 6-foot-9 sophomore power forward has been on the traveling team circuit with Team Texas this spring.

Colleges evaluated him during the season and sent staffs to watch him this spring. Kentucky, Texas and North Carolina were the announced finalists and each showed varying degrees of interest but not all offered. Many of the schools on the list were surprised to learn there would be an announcement this soon.

Peters averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds for the Texas 5-A state champions. He reclassed and transferred to Plano. He's originally from the Midwest. Peters is a physical specimen and can play facing the basket.
