Burton Makes College Pick

Late Wednesday night Deonte Burton made his college decision. He opted to play in the Western Athletic Conference.

Deonte Burton was down to a trio of schools -- UCLA, Cincinnati and Nevada.

Late Wednesday night the 6-foot-1 combo guard opted to make his college choice. Burton admitted he was waiting to see if UCLA would offer, but decided he was too announce for Nevada over Cincinnati.

"UC and Nevada had offered and told me there's playing time at the PG spot," Burton told Scout.com. "I just choose the one that had more minutes and I might get a chance to start. You can't beat that."

"UC is a great place though with great coaches," he added. "I wish I could please everybody man but I had to make the best decision and what I thought was best for me."

Burton, a Compton (Calif.) Centennial standout, said David Carter and his staff ultimately sealed the deal.

"The coaches are great," Burton said. "I trust them and they trust me. That's what made my decision what it was because of the coaching staff."
