Chol Chops Choices

Angelo Chol's a loyal, relationship guy. On Thursday, he sliced up his college list and left standing were the five head coaches who have forged a bond with the big man.

For Angelo Chol, recruiting is about relationships and his trimmed up list of five reflects the schools that showed the most interest and took the time to develop the relationship.

"Because who Angelo is where he comes from, he doesn't trust a lot of people," San Diego Hoover coach Ollie Goulston said. "Head coaches need to build relationships with him."

As of Thursday,'s No. 32 prospect had sliced his list to five and knocked out two schools. Kansas, Connecticut, Washington, Alabama and Georgetown are the finalists. Florida and UCLA didn't make the cut.

For Chol, who is working on becoming a U.S. citizen, geography in relation to his school choice matters little. "When you're thousands of miles from your original home it doesn't make a difference. It doesn't matter, he just wants a place that's going to help him reach his goals. All of those places have a lot of positives to them."

On the final day of the evaluation period, Bill Self and Jim Calhoun were in his gym. All of the head coaches on his final five list have been out to visit him multiple times.
