Gibbs Pops For ACC

Sterling Gibbs is off the board. Talented guard will play in the ACC.

Sterling Gibbs was ready to end the process. So Monday night he picked up the phone and gave Gary Williams and Maryland a verbal pledge.

"Coach Williams is a great coach and he gets the best out of his players," Gibbs told Scout.com. "It's not too far from New Jersey. It's like 3 1/2 hours. It's not too close and I'll still get to enjoy my college experience.

Gibbs, who also considered Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Seton Hall, Rutgers and Florida, said the entire coaching staff showed him attention.

"I was really coach Driesel, but now he'll be coaching for the Citadel. I still feel realy close with coach Williams and coach Rob and coach Keith.

Gibbs, of Newark (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep, averaged 23 points and 5 assists during his junior season.
