Mickelson Makes His Decision

Hunter Mickelson made his college decision on Wednesday. The 6-foot-10 big man will play in the SEC.

All along Arkansas was the presumed favorite for Hunter Mickelson. On Wednesday he put his recruitment to rest giving the Razorbacks a verbal commitment.

"He never wavered from the beginning," Darien Mickelson, Hunter's father, said. "Pelphrey was there since he was a freshman. Any time he could be there anywhere Hunter was at, over the last three years he was there."

Mickelson, a 2011 prospect out of Jonesboro (Ark.) Westside, picked Pelphreys' squad over Maryland, Florida and Minnesota. The elder Mickelson cited his relationship and Hunter's desire to help Arkansas improve.

"They have a good relationship," he said. "Hunter is an Arkansas kid and he wants to bring them back to the traditional days and restore a winning tradition hopefully."

Mickelson, who averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds and five assists a game last year, is Arkansas second verbal commitment. He joins Aaron Ross in the 2011 class.
