Carson Has Big Spring

Jahii Carson, a point guard standout in the 2011 class, is drawing attention on the spring circuit. He currently holds four offers.

Jahii Carson is on a mission this spring.

A 5-foot-11 lead guard out of Mesa (Ariz.) High, Carson is looking to prove the doubters wrong and show that he's one of the nation's top guards.

"I haven't been as good as I am now," said Carson. "I feel like I should have been out there already, but now I'm starting to play with a chip on my shoulder and I'm trying to prove that I'm one of the best out there."

"I'm trying to help put Compton Magic on the map as not only one of the best teams on the west coast but also in the country," he added. "I also want to showcase my talents so people know that I'm one of the best point guards in the country."

As far as his game, Carson describes himself as an "uptempo guard that can get in the paint, but also shoot outside jumpers." And that's just the type of guard high major programs are searching for.

"Things are going crazy right now," he said of his recruitment. "People are just starting to call out of nowhere. Schools are telling me they want to recruit me throughout the summer and get me down for a visit."

Thus far he holds offers from Oregon State, Arizona State, UNLV and Butler, but is also receiving interest from Arizona, Marquette and Alabama.

"I have my eye on a couple of schools that are into me and not just trying to go off what other people are saying," said Carson.

Carson, who was once committed to Oregon State, has taken a visit to Corvallis (Ore.). He added that he will likely take a visit to Arizona sometime in May.
