Crockett Becomes DePaul's First

Oliver Purnell is on the board in the Class of 2011. More specifically, he's on the board in the city of Chicago. Jamie Crockett of Crete Monee picked the Blue Demons on Tuesday.

Nick Irvin, the coach of the Mac Irvin Fire summed up Oliver Purnell's first 2011 Chicago succinctly: "You can't beat it when you have the Big East coming at you, it's the Big East."

Purnell's DePaul Blue Demons needed a spark in the city and the commitment of Crete Monee's Jamie Crockett is a nice way to kick it off. "That was a good move for him. It's here in the city. DePaul needs to get city kids so it was a good move."

DePaul beat Dayton and Indiana State for the ultra-athletic wing. Crockett runs with one of the city's highest profile traveling teams, has a bunch of friends Purnell is targeting and most important, fits how Purnell envisions playing in the Big East: aggressive.

"Jamie's one of the most athletic players in the 2011 class. He runs the floor well, shoots it pretty good and he's an all-around ballplayer. He brings a lot of energy to the table."
