Jones' high school coach -- Pat Strickland -- confirmed that Jones picked Kentucky just minutes after getting off the phone with Jones' mother -- Linda Mashia-Jones.
"Glitz and glamour," Strickland said when asked why he chose UK. "It's Kentucky. Kentucky the program, the history and I think how good the freshman have done this past year helped as well."
Jones, Scout.com's No. 8 overall prospect, opted to just sign financial aid papers, according to Strickland, rather than sign a Letter of Intent.
Throwing Jones in the mix with a trio of five-star prospects, two four-stars and a standout JUCO prospect will catapult Kentucky's class to No. 1 in the nation.
