Christmas Adds Two To His List

Rakeem Christmas, who has already taken a handful of unofficial visits, is adding a few schools to his list. Who are they? has the scoop.

Rakeem Christmas is adding a pair of schools to his list.

In late November last year, the 6-foot-9, 230-pound center cut his list of schools to Oklahoma, Georgetown, Texas, Florida and Florida International. Now the highly regarded post prospect will look at a pair of Big East programs.

"We are still looking at our five, but we have really good interest in Rutgers and Syracuse," Christmas' aunt and legal guardian Amira Hamid told

Christmas and Hamid developed a strong relationship with David Cox, who is the new Associate head coach at Rutgers, when he was at Georgetown. With his move to Rutgers, Christmas wanted to check it out.

"Out of all the assistants that we've dealt with he's probably the one that Rakeem has the strongest rapport with, which is the only reason we ever looked at Rutgers," Hamid said. "Now it's a matter of can we develop that same relationship with Mike Rice?"

Christmas and Hamid went to Rutgers for two hours on Tuesday.

"It was really last minute," Hamid said. "We just wanted to go to Rutgers to see if we are going to serious look at them. We went up there for an hour or two. They showed us around campus and we got to talk to Mike.

"It was a really good conversation," she said. "Obviously we'll continue to develop our relationship with him because we don't know at all. The person we know is David Cox."

Syracuse was added to the list mainly because of their new personnel.

"A lot of Rakeem's friends have been going there from Team Final," Hamid said referring to Dion Waiters and now Trevor Cooney.

"After Trevor committed he kept talking to Rakeem and saying ‘why don't you come' because he wanted to go to school with Rakeem all along," Hamid added. "Him and Trevor are really close and that's why we started looking at Syracuse."

"We tried to go up there on Wednesday, but my work schedule did not work out," she said. "But we will go up there in early August for sure."

Christmas, who is rated as a five-star prospect and No. 6 overall, is not close to making his college decision.
