2012 Introduction: Skylar Spencer

Skylar Spencer, a very promising young post from Los Angeles, gives us some early thoughts on his recruitment...

Skylar Spencer, 6-7 JR PF Los Angeles (Calif.) Price, is a one of the more promising post prospects in the west for 2012. A long lefty, Spencer has a 7-5 wing span and he's a very good athlete. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but Spencer is a very good rebounder and shot blocker. He also plays with terrific energy at both ends of the court.

I spoke with Spencer recently and asked about the schools that have been in contact with him.

"I've been hearing from Gonzaga, UNLV, Colorado, Utah, Washington, USC, UCLA, Marquette, Iowa and Florida St.," said Spencer.

Spencer said Gonzaga and UNLV have extended scholarship offers.

When asked if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest, Spencer replied, "UCLA, Colorado, Marquette and Iowa."

Spencer talked a little about the issues he will consider when it comes time pick a school.

"A good campus, the environment, a good education and how the team fits me," said Spencer. "The location doesn't really matter, although my parents might want me to stay in California."

When asked if he has a leader, Spencer said, "No, I'm just taking it all in right now."

I asked Spencer if he has a time frame for choosing a school.

"I'm hoping by the end of my junior year," said Spencer.

Spencer said he has a 3.5 GPA.
