Anderson's Recruitment Heating Up

Juan Anderson, the top small forward in the west for 2011, had a terrifc July and several new schools have been in contact with him as a result...

Juan Anderson, 6-5 SR SF Castro Valley (Calif.) High, is a terrific athlete with a very versatile game. He's just a fair shooter at this time, but his stroke isn't bad and he should eventually be a good shooter. Every other aspect of his game, though, is above average. He rebounds well for his position, he's a good defender, a very good passer and he has a great approach to the game. He's the top small forward prospect in the west for 2011.

I spoke with Anderson recently and asked about the schools that have been in contact with him.

"I'm hearing from Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Marquette, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, Oregon and Washington State," said Anderson.

I asked Anderson which schools have offered a scholarship.

"Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Marquette, Oklahoma State and Santa Barbara have offered," said Anderson.

When asked if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest, Anderson replied, "Cal, Colorado and Santa Barbara."

Anderson talked a little about the issues he will consider when making his choice.

"The best fit for me and the playing style," said Anderson. "I will go anywhere, so the location doesn't really matter."

Anderson has a time frame in mind for making his decision.

"Late September to mid October, sometime in there," said Anderson.

Anderson said he has a 3.0 GPA.
