"I didn't want to worry about it and I know I have a good college waiting for," Gipson said about make his college choice.
Marquette, West Virginia, Tulane, Georgia and Oklahoma were also under consideration, but he likes how Kansas State uses their big men in the past and he developed strong relationship with their coaching staff.
"Their college develops big men," Gipson said. "I hope I can play the three or the four and [I liked] their coaching staff."
"The person that was talking to me was coach [Figger]. I've been talking to him for over a year. I could tell they wanted me."
Gipson, a standout at Cedar Hill (Tex.) High, is a three-star prospect on Scout.com. Dallas area guru Glenn Smith raved about the talented big man.
"He's very dominant around the basket with extremely soft hands," Smith told Scout.com.
Gipson is Kansas State's second verbal commitment. He joins Hialeah (Fla.) Miami Lakes product Adrian Diaz to make up their current recruiting class.
