Piotrowski To Richmond

The Richmond Spiders like their posts to be skilled and if they can get size then its a bonus. Luke Piotrowski pushes 6-10, comes from a basketball family and can shoot. Sounds like a Spider to us!

The Piotrowski's are a basketball family. Luke Piotrowski's brother is a college player and his father played in the NBA. They're big men, all of them centers except for Luke. We had to ask, what happened to Richmond's latest commitment and why didn't he follow in the family tradition of heavyweight posts?

"My brother was so much bigger than me I had to take him outside if I had a chance of winning," Luke said. "I had to make the jump shot."

It was a combination of 6-10 size and an outside touch that had Boston University, Arizona State and Oregon State interested in nabbing him. It was Chris Mooney and the Spiders that will sign him in November.

"Basketball-wise, since I'm a big man that can shoot, Coach Mooney made it clear that I'll have the opportunity to do that. Plus, it's a real team feeling."

At Egg Harbor Township (N.J.) Atlantic Christian, Piotrowski averaged 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
