Davis Commits To SEC Program

Anthony Davis, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of Chicago (Ill.) is off the board. He'll lace them up in the SEC.

After all of the drama, Anthony Davis is finally off the board.

Davis, a standout at Chicago (Ill.) Prospectives Charter, gave Kentucky and their staff a verbal commitment on Friday. The news was confirmed by his father -- Anthony Davis Sr.

"Yes it's true," Davis Sr. told Scout.com.

Davis also strongly considered Ohio State, Syracuse and DePaul. He took recent visits to OSU, DePaul and Kentucky.

In early May, Davis wasn't nationally known. In fact, the slender forward wasn't even ranked. Over the past year he's grown six inches, going from a guard to a 6-foot-9 do-it-all power forward.

After a strong spring, Davis shot up the charts to No. 3 on the power forward list and No. 5 overall in the class of 2011. When Scout.com's new rankings are released he'll likely make another jump.

This marks the third 2011 commitment for John Calipari. Davis joins top rated lead guard Marquis Teague and top rated small forward Michael Gilchrist.
