Ross Goes Down To Big Ten Squad

LaQuinton Ross ended his recruitment on Monday. He's headed to the Big Ten.

LaQuinton Ross had his list of schools down to three -- West Virginia, Baylor and Ohio State. On Monday he ended the suspense and committed to Ohio State.

"I love the Ohio State program and I liked what they did with Evan Turner last year," Ross said. "I got real close with the coaching staff and that was a big reason why I went with Ohio State."

While the commitment may come as a surprise to many, Ross, a standout at Burlington (N.J.) Life Center Academy, said Ohio State has been recruiting him for quite some time.

"I'd say Ohio State has been on me for about a year and a half," Ross told Scout.com. "They saw me when I was younger. I've been keeping in close contact with them."

Ross cited a strong relationship with Thad Matta, but also mentioned he and Dave Dickerson got close during the recruiting process.

"My relationship with coach Matta is good," he said. "I talk to coach Matta a lot, but I also talked to their assistant coach [Dave] Dickerson a lot and they did a good job recruiting me."

Ross is the second verbal commitment for Ohio State in the 2011 class. Shannon Scott, a talented lead guard, is also committed to OSU.

Ross is currently rated as a four-star prospect and ranked No. 65 overall in the class of 2011.
