Gilbert Pops For Panthers

Jamie Dixon likes his true centers. On Monday, he secured a commitment from one of the lengthiest players in the Class of 2011.

The Pittsburgh Panthers went big. One of the true centers in high school basketball tipped Jamie Dixon's way Monday night. Malcolm Gilbert, a 6-foot-11 center out of Bryn Athyn (Pa.) Academy of New Church, committed to the Panthers, per a source.

Gilbert is a native of Delaware and ran with Team Final and the Albany City Rocks in recent years. He's the second big man from New Church to commit this month. Teammate Rakeem Christmas, the nation's top-ranked center, committed to Syracuse.

Gilbert is known primary for his length and defensive shot blocking ability. Pittsburgh has been putting in work in Philadelphia this season. Dixon's first commitment came from combo guard John Johnson.
