Dom Pointed Toward Five

Dom Pointer was not on the Top 100 radar prior to the summer. A month later, the hard playing forward debuted at No. 81 and has five strong suitors.

Dom Pointer must be a patient young man. Last year he sat and waited for a chance to take a starring role at Quality Education Academy. His chance never came. With point guard Stargell Love and star Quincy Miller, Pointer played a secondary role.

Not any more. Love is at Baylor and Miller transferred. Pointer, because of his scintillating summer, is now the main man at QEA.

"Playing with the type of talent we had, he's head and shoulders better and made the biggest jump of any kid I've seen," QEA coach Isaac Pitts said. "He made the same jump as Juvonte Reddic. He can shoot it now and he's put up a lot of shots. He's always played hard but being able to put it on the floor in traffic and shooting it he raised that part of his game.

"In the summer, he laid it on the line."

According to Pitts, the 6-foot-5 small forward rests at five schools. "He's going to visit West Virginia, Tennessee, St. John's, Michigan and DePaul."

Pointer is a Detroit native and the Wolverines want him. Pitts doesn't see any lean one way or another. "He's indicated that he's looking for the perfect fit. Obviously, he's from Michigan and he's a Detroit guy but I wouldn't say that's the favorite. He told me he wants to see every school and sit down with the staff to see what's the perfect fit for him."

Pointer is ranked No. 81 on the post-summer Top 100.
