Gamecocks Land Another Lithuanian
Dave Odom knows what he's doing when it comes to recruiting foreign players, specifically Lithuanians. On Monday, he landed his second Lithuanian at South Carolina.
Joneliunas was intrigued by two things: Odom's experience and his connections. "I found out that he's a very good post player coach and I like that. He has some good connections with Lithuania and those kind of players."
South Carolina has a definite need for another post man and Joneliunas knows it. He also knows that Odom's experience with Tim Duncan and Darius Songaila is a bonus. "I like the coach and the team and the way they play. They involve every single player."
As for the transition from Lithuania to high school in America to college? "I think it will be big change. It will be hard but I'll do my best."
Joneliunas averaged in the neighborhood of 13 points and 10 rebounds this year.
"He's in the right place to get really good, I think," Roanoke Catholic coach Dick Wall said. "Coach Odom and his staff have a great reputation for developing post players and he has some unusual finess for an 18-year old."
