Hardy Chasing State Title

Fort Wayne Elmhurst is just a few precious wins away from a state title. Star swingman James Hardy is having a super year. Here's the latest on the season and his recruitment.

Elmhurst Chases State Title

Coach Keith Edmonds has his Elmhurst team chasing down a state championship. They'll play Gary Roosevelt this Saturday for the right to fight for a championship. Junior swingman James Hardy has led the charge at 23 points a game.

"He's just had a super season," Edmonds said. Last spring and summer, Hardy proved to be an athletic and deadly scorer from the perimeter. Edmonds said he's the same guy he was last year but physically he's changed.

"I think obviously as you get older you get more mature as far as your understanding of the game. He's gained 20 pounds of muscle from last year to this year and that's helped him in his overall development. The offensive end has always been relatively easy for James. That's where he thrives at."

Hardy is a big time recruit. Just look at his list of college suitors and keep in mind they've already offered him. Georgia Tech, Florida State, Michigan State and Indiana are in the top four. "We're still trying to decide on a fifth school from him to go visit," Edmonds said. Purdue, Ohio State and Florida are in the mix for said visit.

In April, Hardy will take the SAT for the first time and that'll free him up to take some visits if he so chooses.
