Johnson on Tournament Progress

Miami center Reggie Johnson addresses the media the day before facing Illinois in the third round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament...

With the pressure to advance in the 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament now lessened after Friday's 78-49 victory over Pacific, Miami spent Saturday preparing for Sunday's third round match up versus Illinois.

Though practices were closed to both the media and public, center Reggie Johnson spoke with the press about his tournament experience thus far.

On Miami's first round domination of Pacific:

"We were definitely looking for that. Not saying it was going to be easy, but we definitely wanted to come out so that people wouldn't be asking whether Miami came out nervous. Or, 'this is their first time in the tournament, were they shaky?' So we wanted to come out and really impose our will."

On how well Shane Larkin has been leading this team:

"He's been really good all year. Shane is a big part of our team just like everybody else, but Larkin at the head is really big time and I think he's one of the best point guards in the nation."

On the team's mentality now that they have passed the first round:

"The mentality is just win, we've got a big time team in Illinois coming here. Those guys can really play. We were just watching film on those guys. Man, it's going to be a battle come Sunday. But we're definitely looking forward to the challenge and we just have to execute our stuff and make it a good game."
