CHARLOTTE – Annually the biggest draw at SEC Basketball Media Day, now called SEC Tipoff, Kentucky coach John Calipari was again the subject of a large media gathering Wednesday morning in the Ballantyne Hotel.
Coach Cal ran down a number of important topics previewing his 2014-15 Wildcats, including the offseason and preseason growth from Andrew Harrison, the arrival of Donnie Tyndall at Tennessee and how scrimmaging is the greatest strength of this Kentucky team due to the wealth of talent on hand.
Calipari also reiterated a stance on his frontcourt that he first trotted out at the program's recent Media Day.
The bottom line: He's not worried about divvying up the minutes.
“No, (I'm not concerned about that). My issue is the clutter around them, and the clutter being you guys trying to compare one against the other, who should or shouldn't be playing more," said Calipari.
"All this clutter ... I don't worry about the minutes. That'll play out. I said it at our media day - it's not communism. I might be too platooning, but if someone deserves more they're going to get more. And if one group deserves more, they're going to get more. It's not communism. Every one of these guys deserve opportunities to play, and they're going to get those."
