CHARLOTTE – It's the battle that never ends for coaches in the Southeastern Conference - fighting for national respect.
And, after a very successful and visible March for the SEC, Georgia coach Mark Fox believes it's time the rest of the nation get up to speed with what's happening on the hardwood for a league better known for football and baseball.
Here's what Fox had to say on the subject Wednesday at the SEC Tipoff:
"I think the success of our teams in the tournament last year ought to let the country know that SEC basketball is pretty good," Fox said. "Tennessee almost made the Elite Eight. Kentucky tied for second place in the league (with Georgia) and went to the Final Four. Florida obviously had a dominant year last year.
"I believe the performance of those teams will lead to the rest of the country recognizing the quality of basketball we play in this league."
