VIDEO: Donnie Tyndall at SEC Tipoff

Watch Tennessee coach Donnie Tyndall reflect on the state of the Vols' program and discuss what it means to be "rebuilding" as well as how recruiting is already different for him at UT.

CHARLOTTE – First-year Tennessee head coach Donnie Tyndall made his debut appearance in front of a regional audience Wednesday at the SEC Tipoff.

Tyndall spoke to a number of important issues, but none more so than the reality of his situation in Knoxville, taking over a program crippled by the loss of coach Cuonzo Martin, a number of seniors and several recruiting defections.

"It is very unique," Tyndall admitted. "When you go to the Sweet Sixteen and expectations are so high and people are excited - rightfully so, they had a fantastic season - and then you have only four returning players, I don't like to use this word but basically you're in rebuilding mode. That may be hard for the fans to swallow or except, but the reality is we're in a rebuilding situation."

Watch the video below for more from Tyndall, including how recruiting has already been a different animal than it was at his previous stops.
