Tyndall spoke to a number of important issues, but none more so than the reality of his situation in Knoxville, taking over a program crippled by the loss of coach Cuonzo Martin, a number of seniors and several recruiting defections.
"It is very unique," Tyndall admitted. "When you go to the Sweet Sixteen and expectations are so high and people are excited - rightfully so, they had a fantastic season - and then you have only four returning players, I don't like to use this word but basically you're in rebuilding mode. That may be hard for the fans to swallow or except, but the reality is we're in a rebuilding situation."
