NCAA Rewind: Big 12 Men's Records

Just in time the NCAA Men's Tournament, here's a compiled list of all-time record holders for games played at the Sprint Center. Here's a look at the Big 12 players and teams that made the cut...

It’s that time of year again; it’s time to dance.

With the Big 12 Men’s Tournament hours away and March Madness anticipation rising, here’s a look back at the current Big 12 record holders in all NCAA competition, all Divisions, through March 10, 2015, held at the Sprint Center.

OKLAHOMA:

• Points in a single game: Blake Griffin (Oklahoma) is tied for third all time after scoring 33 points vs. Michigan on March 21, 2009. Rounding out the top five are Rakeem Dickerson (Central Missouri) with 41, Robuert Sallie (Memphis) with 35, Jake Anderson (Iowa State) with 33, and Richard Roby (Colorado) with 32.

• Field goals made: Griffin holds the record for 14 vs. Michigan on March 21, 2009.

• Free throw percentage - minimum 13 attempts (team): Oklahoma is one of three teams to have 1,000% versus Texas on March 10, 2011. [13/13] The other two are Iowa State and Georgetown.


IOWA STATE

• Points in a single game: Jake Anderson (Iowa State) is tied for third all time after scoring 33 points vs. Colorado on March 9, 2011. Rounding out the top five are Rakeem Dickerson (Central Missouri) with 41, Robuert Sallie (Memphis) with 35, Blake Griffin (Oklahoma) with 33, and Richard Roby (Colorado) with 32.

• Field goal attempts: Georges Niang is tied for first with 22 versus Kansas on March 14, 2014. Sharon Collins (Kansas) also had 22 versus Syracuse on November 25, 2008.

• Assists: Monte Morris leads with 12 versus Alabama on November 24, 2014.

• Most turnovers: Georges Niang leads with eight versus Kansas on March 14, 2014.

• Iowa State is one of three teams to have 1,000% versus Oklahoma on March 14, 2014. [14/14] The other two teams are Oklahoma and Georgetown.


KANSAS

• Field goal attempts. Sharon Collins (Kansas) is tied for first with 22 versus Syracuse on November 25, 2008. Georges Niang (Iowa State) also had 22 versus Kansas on March 14, 2014.

• Rebounds: Both Thomas Robinson and Cole Aldrich are tied at 18 versus Davidson on December 19, 2011 and March 11, 2010, respectively. Jon Brockton (Washington) also had 18.

• Blocked shots: Jeff Withey twice had seven blocked shots, once versus Saint Louis on November 20, 2012 and again versus Western Kentucky on March 22, 2013. The only other player with seven is Isaiah Austin (Baylor).

• 3- point field goals made (team): Kansas is tied for first with 15 versus Texas on March 16, 2008. Georgetown also had 15 in 2010.

• Rebounds (team): Kansas holds the record with 50 rebounds, which happened twice: versus Colorado State on December 17, 2010 and versus North Carolina on March 24, 2013.

• Assists (team): The Jayhawks hold the record for 25, which happened versus Texas on March 16, 2008.

• Blocked shots (team): Kansas holds the record with eleven versus La Salle on December 12, 2009.

• Fewest fouls (team): Kansas holds the record with nine versus Kansas State on March 16, 2013.


KANSAS STATE:

• Field goal percentage (minimum six attempts): Wesley Iwunudu (Kansas State) is tied for 1st all-time with 1,000% versus Texas A&M on December 20, 2014 [6/6]. Others are Jerrell Wright (La Salle), Harper Kemp (California) and Raymar Morgan (Michigan State).

• Free throw percentage (minimum 10 attempts): Darren Kent had 18 vs. Southern Miss on December 11, 2008. [10/10] He’s tied with Tyler Haws (BYU), Ron Baker (Wichita State), Levi Randolph (Alabama), and Aaron Hill (Rockburst).

• The Wildcats are tied for first with 37 versus Florida A&M on December 17, 2007. The other teams to attempt 37 are Wichita state, Missouri, Syracuse, and Oklahoma State.


OKLAHOMA STATE:

• Free throws made: Le’Bryan Nash (Oklahoma State) is in a three-way tie for first overall with 13 field goals made versus Missouri on December 30, 2014. Others are Melo Trimble (Maryland) and Pierre Jackson (Baylor).

• Free throw attempts: Le’Bryan Nash holds the record with 18 versus Missouri on December 30, 2014.

• Free throw attempts (team): The Cowboys are tied for first with 37 versus Texas Tech on March 12, 2014. The other teams to attempt 37 are Wichita state, Missouri, Syracuse, and Kansas State.


BAYLOR:

• Free throws made: Pierre Jackson (Baylor) is in a three-way tie for first overall with 13 field throws made versus Oklahoma State on March 14, 2013. Others are Melo Trimble (Maryland) and Le’Bryan Nash (Oklahoma State).

• Blocked shots: Isaiah Austin is tied for first with seven versus Texas on March 14, 2014. Jeff Withey (Kansas) had seven in two games.


TEXAS TECH:

• Free throws made (team): The Red Raiders set the record with 31 versus Missouri on March 9, 2011.


TEXAS

• Fewest turnovers (team): Texas is tied for first with four versus Kansas on March 16, 2008. The other team is Missouri, who had four versus Nebraska on March 3, 2010.
