2017 guard Al Durham commits to Indiana

Indiana picked up their first verbal pledge of the 2017 class on Monday morning. Al Durham, a guard out of Georgia, verbally committed to the Hoosiers.

2017 guard Al Durham verbally committed to Tom Crean and Indiana, his father told Scout.

"We are going to be Hoosiers," Al Durham Sr. said.

Durham, a 6-foot-4 combination guard out of Lilburn (Ga.) Berkmar, visited Indiana this past weekend for their Hoosier Hysteria festivities.

"It went well," the elder Durham said about the trip. "That was our second time. The first time it went well. This time we got to see the school and campus in action and everything rolling. Took my wife down and saw it all."

Prior to committing to Indiana, Durham also considered Georgia, Florida, Virginia Tech and South Florida.

"He looked at all the schools that were on him and recruiting him," Durham Sr. said. "It was just a little different and they really, really recruited him. IU isn’t a school to balk at. They are one of the top schools in the country. They really, really wanted him."

"We know it’s early, but what’s right is right," he added. "It's a perfect situation when he comes in with their guards like Yogi [Ferrell] gone to the NBA. They only have one guard commitment in 2016 and the plan is for him and Al to play together. There's a shot for him to play as a freshman at Indiana. Who wouldn't love that?"

Durham is Indiana's first pledge of their 2017 recruiting class.
