Shaka Smart Breaks Down Texas' Tourney Path

The Longhorns are officially in the NCAA Tournament as a 6-seed. Head coach Shaka Smart talks tournament and Texas' first-round opponent, Northern Iowa.

Shaka Smart might be at Texas now, but it's his history at VCU that makes him familiar with his first-round opponent, 11th-seeded Northern Iowa. During his time at Virginia Commonwealth, the Rams went 1-1 against the Panthers.

And while Smart might have moved on to bigger, orange-er pastures, he's certainly not overlooking Northern Iowa.

"It's win or go home," said Smart. "Excuses get you beat, and the last rule of the NCAA tournament is that the team that's able to play the best on both ends on the floor is the team that's going to win ... It's always the same."
